Purpose: To discuss practical and constructive Dias****a initiatives to
help rebuild Zimbabwe. Specifically, our health taskforce is raising
money and resources to ****p medical supplies to help future doctors
graduate from the University of Zimbabwe Medical School.
Dear Friend,
I just recently returned from Zimbabwe and would like to invite you to
take part in playing a constructive role to rebuilding Zimbabwe. I was
in Zimbabwe about a week and a half ago and I can tell you, things are
terrible. People are going to hospitals to die, doctors and other
professionals are leaving en masse. However, in all of this tragedy
there are heroes and heroines keeping the country glued together as
the pieces fall apart. There are doctors and nurses who are still
working in hospitals with no drugs, teachers who are walking many
miles to schools to teach, and many others. THESE HEROES AND HEROINES
NEED SUP****T.
Like many people; there is a lot I can say to highlight my anger,
anguish, and anxiety about the current situation unfolding in
Zimbabwe. And I am sure you also have your own story about our current
quandary. I am not writing to share my political opinion or who I
think is guilty in all of this. But, I write to seek your
participation in our efforts to play a constructive role TO HELP THOSE
WHO ARE HELPING PEOPLE.
Please join us in our efforts to use our skills, networks and
resources to help those helping our people, the people who are keeping
Zimbabwe together in these uncertain times. We are raising resources
to send home, but beyond material goods, we are creating systems that
will allow people to help revive Zimbabwe, for instance, linking
universities here and in Zimbabwe. There are those of us who intend to
return home, but there is a need for a system to facilitate effective
contributions. Thus we are in the process of mobilizing people with
skills who would like to either return or play some part in
rebuilding. We are also trying to facilitate efforts to do a needs
*****sment in mission hospitals so that we know what is needed and
devise a plan for reviving these facilities, including raising funds
and equipment.
