This idea has bugged me now for the past 2 decades - a burning passion to
produce a silent theatre piece in the style of the great movies of
yesteryear.
A production that will harken back to a bygone age, complete with Winifred
Atwell/Violet Carson pianist style creating the dramatic atmosphere, a
backscreen projection of the dialogue and the scenery and actors in black
and white (shades of grey thereof) - the cast being fully conversant with
the material though mouthing the dialogue only. This may sound like a
flight
of fancy and could perhaps dissuade a few people of its potential but I
firmly believe that the idea has legs with the right script and material
at
hand.
Here comes the dilemma: Where do I find the right material? Hence my
approach to the group to see if anyone else can help with ideas.
Obviously,
it needs to contain high melodrama in the silent movie genre or comedic
capering that similarly reminds us of this theme. The idea may already
have
been explored but never realised its full potential and a subsequent
script
has sat waiting for the right moment or the right people to push it
forward?
Maybe someone is gifted enough to script something that could work?
Rather than express disdain for such an concept, if you have nothing to
offer constructively then please skip this message but if you do have
something in mind, your thoughts will be appreciated.
