.... who was also a star of musical comedy both on Broadway and the
vaudeville circuit in the teens and 1920's, and in the West End through
the 1930's, and a serious actor as well, first on stage and later (as
Hollywood realised they had something), in films. This is the first
biography to be written on Charlotte, and is based on her unpublished
memoirs.
