The IRA terrorists were basically Catholic and the Protestants were
trading terror for terror. The army was to position itself between the
warring factions and be `peace keepers' . Soldiers seldom make good
policeman unless trained for that job. This is something the pacifists
and `peace process' folks have a hard time understanding.
